Tour Itinerary
Stop #1 - Elwha River: Upon arrival at the Elwha River, your guide will lead you on a short paved trail to Madison Falls (0.1 mile one-way) and discuss the recent historic removal of the Elwha Dams and the fast-changing river valley landscapes.
Stop #2 - Lake Crescent: The scenic drive west along Highway 101 continues to Lake Crescent Lodge with one of the most picturesque lake views in Olympic National Park. From the Lodge, you will hike alongside Barnes Creek amongst towering old-growth evergreens to reach Marymere Falls, one of the Olympics' top-rated waterfalls (90 feet tall). As Lake Crescent sits just on the outside of the coastal temperate rain forest, the moss-laden terrain and ancient old-growth trees are jaw-dropping throughout.

Hoh Rain Forest and Rialto Beach Tour
This tour is only available on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. If you are coming from Victoria, you must do an overnight in Port Angeles — The 6:10am ferry departing from Victoria does not get to Port Angeles in time for the 7:30am start time of this tour.
Tour Time: Tour departs at 7:30am and returns between 3:30pm - 4:30pm.
After a scenic two-hour drive around Lake Crescent, through Forks, and deep into the Hoh Rain Forest, guests typically have two full hours to explore the mossy, magical trails amongst towering old-growth evergreens within the Hoh. The Naturalist Guide will lead a guided hike along the Hall of Mosses and Spruce Nature Trail for 2 miles of scenic nature loops. After departing the rain forest and a scheduled lunch stop in Forks, we spend the remainder of the afternoon touring Rialto Beach along the Pacific Coast. At Rialto Beach, guests generally have one hour to explore the Olympic Wilderness Coast alongside massive sea-stacks and driftwood logs, before departing back to Port Angeles. The guided hikes are optional, allowing guests to do minimal hiking or up to 4-6 miles total.
Tour Itinerary
Stop #1 - Hoh Rain Forest: The 7:30am departure helps get a head start on the crowds, for an estimated arrival at the Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center between 9:30am - 10:00am. After 10:00am, there can be a 1-2 hour wait at the Hoh entrance fee station due to the parking lot reaching capacity. The tour typically spends two full hours exploring the moss-laden trails at the Hoh. The tour will likely feature two scenic loops through the Hall of Mosses (0.75 mi) and Spruce Nature Trail (1.25 mi). Big leaf maple trees, endless sword ferns, ancient old-growth Sitka Spruce trees, and an incredible variety of mosses, lichens, and micro-plants make this rain forest come to life! If you're lucky enough, you may even encounter the impressive Roosevelt Elk Herd.
Stop #2 - Forks: After a morning of rain forest explorations, drive back into Forks for a scheduled stop at Forks Outfitters & Thriftway, which has a full grocery store, grab & go deli items, a coffee shop, and neat local souvenirs. After this quick stop, there is a 20-30 minute drive to Rialto Beach, where time is usually built in for a picnic lunch and snacks upon arrival.
Stop #3 - Rialto Beach: Based on the itinerary timing, you generally have one or two hours to explore this stunning section of the Olympic Wilderness Coast. At Rialto Beach, there are picnic tables and beach logs to eat lunch and a beautiful rugged coastline to explore. Because the tides change daily, every visit to Rialto will yield a different experience. With high tides, enjoy watching the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. During low tides, trek and out back toward Hole in the Wall as time permits and ask the guide about tidepooling for special low tides less than 2 feet. After an afternoon visit to Rialto Beach, embark on a 1 hour 30 minute drive back to Port Angeles.
You must check-in with Olympic Hiking Co. inside the Port Angeles Wharf (115 E Railroad Ave, Port Angeles, WA) 15 minutes prior to the tour start time. The Port Angeles Wharf is located to the left of our Port Angeles ferry terminal.
The tour includes Olympic National Park entrance fees, round-trip transportation from Port Angeles, and a local naturalist hiking guide. Outdoor activewear, extra layers, and comfortable walking/hiking shoes with good traction are recommended.
